Event Details

Theravāda Dhamma Retreat

Date: 23rd to 29th March 2026

Location: Origins Centre and Coorain, Balingup, Western Australia.

Explore teachings attributed to the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, including The Four Noble Truths, The Threefold Training, Threefold Refuge, Dukkha, Anicca, Anatta and more, and how understanding and practice support the growth of mindfulness in our daily lives, and a deepening of Refuge. Retreatants work on developing their natural, mindful, calm-abiding, meditative practice.

The retreat focuses on mindfulness and the meditative practice of mind-object contemplation through the “Old Theravāda Dhamma” Puja Text written by Tig-Le House, based on the Coorain text and other sources. The text is a collection of prayers, principles and teachings, providing a rich source of inspiration and guidance. Each participant will receive a copy of the text and the accompanying book Dhamma Wisdom.

The retreat offers a balance of group sessions with Dhamma talks, Puja, mindfulness and meditation practice, personal practice, teacher dialogues, respite and support in the beautiful setting of Origins Centre and Coorain.

Participants are required to attend the week-long retreat as teaching unfolds sequentially, step-by-step, following a line of inquiry, instruction and practice.

Traditional approaches to practice can deepen our mindfulness and open us to life’s intelligence and insights into the nature of reality, while linking us across time and place to the human community invested in fostering calm, peaceful ways of being in the world.
