Tig-Le House Newsletter, Term 4, 2024

Hi, friends of Tig-Le,

The fourth term is getting close; starting on October 7th, we look forward to reopening and sharing mindfulness, meditation, and Dharma teachings with friends and the community. We begin the term with the October Mettā Meditation retreat at Fair Harvest before returning to regular Monday night mindfulness sessions, the Wednesday evening Dharma study and practice group, Thursday mindful walking, and Sunday Wongkur ceremonies. We also have the Meditations for Enriched Awareness of Nature weekend retreat at the Origins Centre in November. Details below.

5-Day Mettā Meditation Retreat: 7th to 11th October at Fair Harvest Permaculture.
This is coming up soon. Mettā is a precious practice, one of the Brahma Vihara meditations, and considered a sublime condition of our hearts that has boundless possibilities for health, peace and Refuge when encountered and cultivated through practice. The Mettā state is an orientation of mind and way of living that is open to and interested in the possibilities for love and kindness discoverable within the human experience. It is a powerful healing remedy with four distinct meditative trainings. Follow this link to read our article on Mettā  – The possibilities for love and kindness (tiglehouse.org). Monday Mindfulness: 14th October to 2nd December, 7pm – 8pm at Tig-Le House.
These open-house mindfulness sessions are open to anyone wanting to sit and cultivate Mindfulness in an open and dedicated way with an experienced teacher-practitioner. They are open to those who are new to practice and experienced practitioners. Mindfulness is our capacity to attend to experiences, fostering calm and peaceful responses based on an ethical engagement with life. You can book online here Bookings Monday Mindfulness, term 4 (tiglehouse.org) or make a weekly contribution.

Wednesday Dharma Study and Practice Group: 16th October to 8th December, 7pm – 8pm at Tig-Le House.
This term’s study is on the Tibetan Vajrayana. Each week, a Wednesday evening teaching is followed by the associated meditative ceremony on Sunday. Experience with mindfulness in our network is a prerequisite for joining for the health and stability of all involved. This training requires a solid commitment to attend. Wednesday evening sessions are not open to drop-in, but Sunday ceremonies are open for all to join. Contact Ian to enquire at tiglehouse@gmail.com
