Tig-Le House Newsletter 10th July 2022

Tig-Le House Newsletter 10th July 2022

Hi friends of Tig-Le,

It is good to be back after long retreat and getting prepared to share mindfulness and meditation sessions with you again.

Third term at Tig-Le House starts up very soon, we have staggered start dates to ease back in and fit in with family commitments. Please see the start dates below.

Tuesday mornings is open house mindfulness, just drop in and share in sitting practice together.

Wednesday mornings we go mindful walking as weather allows. This term we will be in the forest close to the Margaret River, Wooditjup Bilya. The Wadandi / Noongar language Bilya or Beeliar means more than ‘river’. It represents a physical and spiritual network of links and bonds going from one place to another bringing life giving waters that connects and nourishes both the land and its people. Mindful walking supports a deeper direct knowing of this relationship, the living link and bond between earth and people. Mindful walking is common practice amongst all cultures, all ancestries, all traditional peoples of earth. All are welcome to join anytime.

We are keen to have bookings for Wednesday evenings 8-week mindfulness training program. If you or friends are thinking of joining, please book in soon so we can confirm running with the step-by-step training approach. Alternatively, we will make Wednesday evenings an open house drop-in class.

Thursday mornings universalist dharma sessions this term will cover the ‘Seven point mind training’ of classical Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism on the development of compassion (Karuna). This is wonderful meditation technique which produces an open-heartedness, the benefits of genuine love, understanding and care for life and lived experience, for oneself and for others. A transformative and healing practice.

Tig-Le has a solid focus on Ecodharma, the application of mindfulness and meditation trainings and practices that support an ecological ethic and life affirming engagement with the foundations of the world system.
We do this in a variety of ways including our mindfulness and nature retreats Mindfulness, Meditation, Ecodharma, Nature retreats, along with consulting on landcare and bushland regeneration projects.

Ian teaches ecological principles, forest ecologies and more on local permaculture courses. The next Permaculture design certificate is Sunday 4th – Sunday 18th September 2022, placements are available.

Today we held a wonderful group walk on private bushland in Rosa Glen near Margaret River, sharing mindfulness and bushland regeneration techniques with community and local landholders.

Recently volunteering with Activate Tree Planting, supported by Trillion Trees Australia, at a friend’s property in the WA wheatbelt. What a wonderful initiative Activate is!! We supported by running one of the planting teams. If you are interested in future events, I highly recommend it.

The dharma teachings are all about health and peace at every level of experience. Working to understand increasingly the wisdoms of the world, nature and life, and how to embody and applying these wisdoms in our daily lives for the benefit of all species.

We look forward to your company attending Tig-Le House sessions or coming along to one of our walks, retreats or courses. Further details and links are below.

Mettā (Pali.) in the context of mindfulness speaks to the ever-present possibility to hold all aspects of this life and our experiences of living dearly in our hearts, as a good friend. An extension of our mindfulness, our Mettā qualities within show us the potential for a deeper friendship, for love and kindness, with ourselves, others, human experience, the World, this life. Practice helps us to find meaningful sources of love and kindness within our own lives, to find the freedom to live filled with greater tenderness and goodwill. Experience with mindfulness is highly recommended. Bookings here at Metta meditation weekend – holding life dear (tiglehouse.org)
